That info however is rather inconsequential to the purpose for this posting. I've had some drumless time to muse over what songs I think should at some point be included in Rock Band's repertoire, and I have arranged a series of "track packs" for your viewing pleasure. No, I do not actually believe that any of these packs will ever be released; the names and arrangements are really more there for entertainment purposes. However, I do believe that each of the following songs belongs in the game one way or the other. So, without further ado*, here you go.
*Further Ado: If you have any songs or ideas for packs you can e-mail em or comment em and I'll post them (either as an edit or a separate deal). I have officially requested most of these songs already at the appropriate forum, and I would be more than happy to include yours. Okay, that's really all**.
**P.S. I tried to stay away from packs that only consisted of one group, but some couldn't be helped. Salut.

The "There Is More To Classic Rock Than Just The Police" Pack
1) And She Was - by Talking Heads
2) I'm Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band) - by The Moody Blues
3) New Sensation - by INXS
The Police currently hold six songs in Rock Band's set list: one that shipped with the game, a pack of 3 that consisted only their songs, and two packs of 3 that held one Police song each. That's a lot considering they haven't had an album or "large pack" release. In an effort to prove that during 1979-1989 more happened than Sting and Boston, I present this pack.
The "Early 2000's Rock That Sounds Like The Color Grey" Pack
1) Fine Again - by Seether
2) So Far Away - by Staind
3) Like A Stone - Audioslave
Man did these songs get a lot of play on local radio stations in high school. These sort of meandering, loping rock balads were very commonplace right after the turn of the century for some reason. Songs like these will always remind me of CDs that played in the weight room. They're by no means bad, as long as they're your thing and are in the mood for something of that sort. Oh, and I mean that title literally; to me they sound like what Grey must sound like.
The "Mostly For Singers" Pack
1) We Didn't Start The Fire - by Billy Joel
2) I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) - by The Proclaimers
3) I've Been Everywhere - by Johnny Cash
Singers get a bum rap. There aren't many songs in Rock Band where you think "Awesome, I wanna try to sing that!" It's sad, and this would fix it. We Didn't Start The Fire would be the highlight I think, and I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) would just be fun because that song rules. The Johnny Cash track would be totally mean-spirited and horribly difficult.
The "For Those Who Fell In The Line Of Rock Duty" Pack
1) Walk - by Pantera
2) Bodies - by Drowning Pool
3) X-Stream - by Voivod
This pack is dedicated to bands that have lost one or more members at some point. Specifically, Pantera of course lost Dimebag Darrel (although they were no longer together at that point, but Damageplan wasn't what he was as well known for). Drowning Pool lost vocalist Dave Williams just as soon as they got popular. And X-Stream lost guitarist Denis d'Amour in 2005. Also could have included AC/DC on this list (among others) but they already had a couple spots farther down the list. Also, I know that X-Stream was a GHII track, but come on, right?
The "Songs That Would/Could Never Be Instituted But Would Be Awesome" Pack
1) Craig - by Stephen Lynch
2) It Would Be Nice - by blink-182
3) Homies - by Insane Clown Posse
Okay so, explanation: These songs are all totally awesome/offensive/don't have 4 parts so they obviously couldn't happen. BUT... what if? Craig is probably the most offensive song on the religious front. Plus its just him and his guitar, but you could write a drum and bass part perhaps. It Would Be Nice has all 4 parts but is like 00:50 seconds long and is also totally bad. Homies would have all 4 parts but ICP are generally disliked and whether anyone would buy a track from them is debatable (AND they're not a rock band, per se). I would like to see this list grow, so lemme know.
The "Guitar Players Shouldn't Have All The Fun" Pack
1) Y'all Want A Single - by KoRn
2) My Name Is Mud - by Primus
3) Suck My Kiss - by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Sometimes wanky guitar solos are... well, wanky. When you get tired of the meedley-meedley-meedley-meedly-mees and wanna bass groove, turn to these guys. Like vocals, bass is an instrument that seems to often get shafted when it comes to what songs get chosen. Bass parts are usually fun to play, but the songs don't seem to be chosen because of the bass. Flea, Fieldy, Les Claypool, we salute you. 6x Multiplyer. Word.
The "Why Are There No Beatles Yet?" Pack
1) Ticket To Ride - by The Beatles
2) Run For Your Life - by The Beatles
3) Back In The U.S.S.R. - by The Beatles
I think I know why, but it would be awesome if they ever made it somehow. I mean, for god's sake they have all 4 parts lined out so nicely. With such an extensive catalog, almost anything I put here is leaving something else, so I just picked three of my favorites.
The "Or AC/DC For That Matter" Pack
1) Its A Long Way To The Top (If Ya Wanna Rock And Roll) - by AC/DC
2) Big Gun - by AC/DC
3) Rocker - by AC/DC
Though this pack would cater more to the Angus Young in all of us, I think the other 3 parts would still be fun. I tried to pick some of the more challenging songs I could think of, but again their catalog is so giant that whatever I pick will be wrong to somebody.
The "What Happened To Disturbed?" Pack
1) Voices- by Disturbed
2) I'm Alive - by Disturbed
3) The Game - by Disturbed
I don't wanna get started, so I won't. Suffice it to say that Disturbed (to me, opinion alert) has been losing what made them so great more and more with each album. 10,000 Fists to me was a huge disappointment for me. The songs were alright, but at the same time missing something to make them stand out. Also, they did this whole political statement thing (only not nearly as cleverly or well as S.O.A.D) and that was a HUGE turn off. Wank wank. In the immortal words of John Rounseville: "Why Dan, why?".
The "Ow My Fingers/Legs/Throat" Pack
1) Thunderstruck - by AC/DC
2) Damage Inc. - by Metallica
3) Nobody - by Skindred
Three insane difficulty on their respective instrument songs. Thunderstruck goes FOREVER. Damage Inc. is one of Lars' fastest licks. And if you sang like the guy from Skindred I think your whole family would develop laryngitis somehow.
The "Some People Like German Metal..." Pack
1) Links 2 3 4 - by Rammstein
2) Asche Zu Asche - by Rammstein
3) Keine Lust - by Rammstein
Okay, first in my defense let me say that Harmonix recently put out a bunch of songs to celebrate Rock Band's release in Europe and some are in German. So this isn't COMPLETELY out of the question. Rammstein have been getting softer and softer over the years, but their style varies so often and frequently that there is something for anyone who likes a little metal. (Left 2 3 4) definitely centers on the pounding metal anthem theme. (Ashes To Ashes) is more of a typical guitar centered fast metal song. (No Desire) is the odd one out, being half heavy, half groovy, and all awesome.
The "...But Some Prefer The German Rock Scene" Pack
1) Wer Bist Du - by Megaherz
2) Der Mann Mit Dem Koks - by Stahlhammer
3) Gott Is Ein Popstar - by OOMPH!
So, not everybody likes Rammstein. Too heavy, too loud, too much of this. So there are alternative sources of German music to be had. (Who Are You) by Megaherz caters more to the vocals and bass, and is an all around fun song. (The Man With The Coke) ((OMG yeah that's the name of the song)) is a little more hip-hoppy, and the music video is f-ing hilarious. And any band with a song titled (God Is A Popstar) wins. OOMPH! wins.
The "Try And Sing Like Wayne" Pack
1) Push It - by Static-X
2) I'm The One - by Static-X
3) Destroyer - by Static-X
Staic-X rules, and so does Wayne Static. While the whole band would be fun to play on these songs, someone trying to Karaoke Wayne's vocals would be amusing to no end methinks. Any band who's debut CD was titled "Wisconsin Death Trip" is one worth listening to in my book. Oh, and
Wayne's Hair > You.
The "System Of A Down (Classic)" Pack
1) Sugar - by System Of A Down
2) Chop Suey! - by System Of A Down
3) Pictures - by System Of A Down
I like System Of A Down, but I think most will agree that their older stuff is the golder stuff. Got one here from each of the three albums before Mezmerize/Hypnotize And, this is the second time I've used this but,
Serj > You.
